Bespoke Decorative Plasterwork for Film, Television & Set Design
Film and television set work often depends on the architectural details that bring a scene to life. At Profile Mouldings Yorkshire, we manufacture bespoke decorative plasterwork for projects where standard off-the-shelf products simply aren’t enough.
From period-inspired cornices and intricate wall mouldings to bespoke ceiling features, architectural details and completely original designs, we can work from drawings, photographs, existing mouldings, digital models or design concepts to explore what can be manufactured.
If your production requires a decorative feature that doesn’t exist yet, talk to us about what can be made.
Bespoke Plasterwork for Productions
When the detail needs to be made specifically for the set
Production designers and set-building teams can require architectural details that are difficult to source or impossible to buy as standard products.
A production might require an exact reproduction of an existing historical moulding, a decorative feature based on a reference photograph, or an entirely original architectural element designed specifically for the production.
Our bespoke manufacturing approach allows us to look beyond standard catalogue profiles and consider how a design can be turned into a physical moulded component.
What We Can Manufacture
Cornices, Coving & Friezes
Bespoke decorative profiles can be manufactured for period interiors, fictional environments, studio sets and other production requirements.
Ceiling Features
Ceiling roses, decorative ceiling centres, coffers, panels and other architectural ceiling details can be created to suit the requirements of a particular set.
Wall Panels & Decorative Mouldings
Wall panels, panel mouldings, decorative borders and architectural wall details can be manufactured to complement a set design.
Pilasters, Columns & Corbels
Architectural features such as pilasters, columns, corbels and other decorative elements can be manufactured individually or as part of a larger set design.
Arches & Bespoke Architectural Features
Decorative arches and other architectural elements can be developed for specific dimensions, designs and applications.
Original & Fictional Designs
Not every architectural feature seen on screen needs to have existed in the real world.
If a production requires something completely original, we can explore how the design could be developed into a practical manufactured piece.
Period Reproduction & Architectural Replication
Recreating detail from the past
Period productions often require architectural details that are no longer readily available.
An original moulding, fragment, photograph or architectural reference can potentially provide the starting point for a reproduction.
Our experience in bespoke moulding and restoration allows us to approach reproduction work with attention to profile, proportion and decorative detail, while also considering how the new piece can be manufactured.
Where appropriate, 3D scanning and digital surveying can also be used to capture existing architectural details accurately.
From Digital Design to Physical Moulding
Designed with manufacture in mind
A design may look perfect on a screen, but the finished feature still needs to become a physical object that can be manufactured, handled and installed.
We approach bespoke work from a manufacturing perspective.
This means considering:
- How the pattern or mould can be produced
- Whether the design can be successfully released from its mould
- The level of detail that can realistically be manufactured
- The size and weight of the finished component
- How sections can be joined
- Whether multiple identical pieces are required
- How the finished pieces will be transported and handled
- How the component will ultimately be installed
This manufacturing-led approach is particularly important when working with unusual or completely bespoke designs.
We Can Work From Your Existing Material
You don’t necessarily need a finished moulding profile or technical drawing before contacting us.
Depending on the project, we may be able to work from:
- Architectural drawings
- CAD drawings
- Photographs
- Existing mouldings
- Physical fragments
- Design sketches
- 3D models
- Digital scans
- Templates or patterns
- Reference images
The more information available, the easier it becomes to establish the most practical manufacturing route.
Prototype & Repeat Production
Some productions may require a single bespoke feature, while others may require multiple identical components across a set.
A project can begin with the development of an individual prototype or sample before considering repeat production.
Once the design and manufacturing method have been established, identical decorative components can potentially be produced for larger requirements.
This approach can be particularly useful for repeated wall panels, decorative mouldings, ceiling details and other set elements.

A New Direction for Profile Mouldings Yorkshire
While Profile Mouldings Yorkshire has not yet completed a film or television production, our existing manufacturing and bespoke moulding capabilities are well suited to the requirements of set design and production work.
We are actively interested in working with production designers, set decorators, art departments, set builders, scenic designers, contractors and production companies looking for a manufacturer capable of producing unusual decorative plasterwork.
We particularly welcome projects where a standard off-the-shelf product isn’t suitable.
Why Profile Mouldings Yorkshire?
In-House Manufacturing
We manufacture decorative plaster mouldings ourselves rather than simply supplying products from another manufacturer.
Bespoke Capability
We can explore individual profiles and architectural features outside standard catalogue ranges.
Traditional Materials & Techniques
Our work is rooted in traditional decorative plasterwork and moulding techniques.
Digital Surveying & 3D Scanning
Existing architectural features can potentially be captured digitally to assist with accurate reproduction and bespoke development.
Manufacturing-Led Approach
We consider not only what a feature should look like, but how it can actually be manufactured as a physical component.
Yorkshire Based
Based in Yorkshire, we can discuss production requirements locally and consider projects further afield.
