Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to common questions about our cornice and plaster moulding services. If you don’t see your question below, please contact us.

General Questions

Do you supply producs only, or do you fit them as well?

We both manufacture and fit. We don’t supply stock mouldings or sell to other fitters. One team handles your project from start to finish — from the initial design and workshop manufacture to the final installation on site.

Where are you based?

We are based in Yorkshire. Our workshop is in Yorkshire, and we work extensively across Yorkshire and the North West. For larger projects or multiple rooms, we travel nationwide throughout England, Scotland, and Wales.

Do you travel outside Yorkshire?

Yes. For larger projects or multiple rooms, we travel across the UK. We’ve completed projects in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, London, and beyond. For smaller projects outside Yorkshire, please still get in touch — we may be able to arrange a visit depending on our schedule.

How much do your services cost?

Every project is different. Costs depend on the complexity of the profile, the quantity of mouldings needed, and the location of the installation. We provide free, no-obligation quotes and respond within 24 hours.

How do I get a quote?

Contact us via our inquiry form. Include your postcode, a brief description of your project, and any photos if you have them. We’ll respond within 24 hours.

Bespoke & Matching

Can you match an existing cornice profile?

Yes. This is one of our specialties. Send us a photo, a drawing, or an original offcut. We can recreate profiles from Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian, and other period properties.

What if I don’t have an original piece?

If you have a clear photo of the profile from an angle, that often works. Or take a rubbing of the profile onto paper. Failing that, we can visit (for Yorkshire projects) to assess what’s needed.

Can you make completely new designs?

Yes. If you have a sketch, a photo of something you like, or just an idea, we can design and manufacture a bespoke profile to suit your property.

Manufacturing

What materials do you use?

We use traditional plaster suitable for cornices and decorative mouldings. It’s durable, holds fine detail well, and is ready for painting or decorating after installation.

How long does manufacturing take?

Typically 2-4 weeks from approval of the design and quote, depending on the complexity and quantity. For large or complex projects, we’ll give you a specific timeline as part of the quote.

Can you match period profiles?

Yes. We have over 30 years of experience matching Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian, and other period profiles. Many of our projects are in listed buildings and conservation areas.

Fitting

Do you only fit your own mouldings?

Yes. We don’t fit mouldings made by other suppliers. Our fitters know our manufacturing process, which ensures consistent quality and a seamless installation.

How long does fitting take?

Installation time depends on the size and complexity of the project. A single room might take 1-2 days. A full house or commercial project will take longer. We’ll give you a clear timeline in your quote.

Will fitting make a mess?

We take care to keep disruption to a minimum. We cover floors and furniture, clean up daily, and remove all waste at the end of the project.

Can you fit into a decorated room?

Yes. We regularly install cornices in rooms that are already decorated. We work carefully and cleanly. Minor decorating may be needed after fitting (filling joints, painting), and we’ll advise you on what’s required.

Period Properties & Listed Buildings

Do you work on listed buildings?

Yes. We have extensive experience working on listed buildings and in conservation areas. We understand the additional care and approvals required.

Do I need planning permission?

For listed buildings, you may need listed building consent for internal alterations. We recommend checking with your local authority’s conservation officer before starting. We can advise based on our experience.

Commercial Projects

Do you work for insurance companies, public buildings, hotels, restaurants, and pubs?

Yes. We’ve completed projects across Yorkshire and the UK, including hotels, restaurants, pubs, and public buildings including Heritage projects. We also work with insurance companies to complete repairs.

Can you handle large quantities?

Yes. For commercial projects requiring consistent mouldings across multiple rooms or large spaces, we can manufacture and fit at scale while maintaining quality.

Booking & Lead Times

How far in advance do I need to book?

We recommend contacting us at least 4-6 weeks before your preferred start date. For larger or complex projects, 8-12 weeks is better. We’ll always let you know our current availability when we provide your quote.

Do you charge for site visits?

For Yorkshire projects, site visits are free as part of the quoting process. For projects further afield, we may need to discuss travel arrangements.

Payment

What are your payment terms?

We’ll confirm payment terms in your quote. Typically, we require a deposit to begin manufacturing, with the balance due on completion of fitting.

Do you provide a guarantee?

Yes. We stand behind our workmanship. Specific guarantee details are provided with each quote.
